1. Why should I consider using BoardSpank! ?

2. How does the sun, saltwater and pollution affect the outside of my board?
Our boards take a beating in and out of the water. A board surface is constantly exposed to several environmental hazards - sun (UV), salt corrosion, pollution and poor handling. The sun is public enemy number one! Similar to our skin, Ultraviolet rays stimulate free radical destruction resulting in the physical break-down and yellowing of fiberglass. Add-in corrosive salt water, oils, tar and pollution and you have the ingredients for a very worn, faded and bruised finish.
3. Can environmental hazards (sun, salt) damage the foam inside my board?
Yes. The inside of the board - the part that gives the board its soul and flex - yellows and becomes brittle as a result of environmental threats. As a result, the density of the foam decreases and your board looses its elastic abilities to "snap back" to its original shape when flexed on a wave. Simply put, the performance of the board is compromised. Over time, the board will feel stiffer and fail to best follow the shape of the wave. Finally, the core of a board with foam decay becomes more prone to compression '"dings".
4. Is BoardSpank! meant for shortboards or longboards?
BoardSpank! can be used on both shortboards, longboards and hybrids. It is actually perfect for most fiberglass, plastic and wood constructed boards and personal watercraft.
5. How do I apply BoardSpank!?
It's real easy and quick. Simply follow these instructions: Shake well and apply a thin coating to the surface - WIPE ON! BoardSpank! dries quickly. With a clean cloth, easily WIPE OFF! No strenuous buffing required. BoardSpank! can easily be applied in various conditions: direct sun or shade; and warm or cool temperatures. ALSO - Don't forget to spank the top of your board before you apply your base coat.
6. Can I put BoardSpank! on the top of my board under the base coat of wax to protect it?
Yes. That is an excellent way to protect the top of your board or personal watercraft. Many boards have special colors and artwork on the top. BoardSpank! protects these colors and artwork. For surfboards, just apply BoardSpank! underneath the base coat of wax.
7. Can I use BoardSpank! on other water sports equipment?
Surfboards aren't the only rides that can benefit from its unique properties. All personal water craft are ideal for BoardSpank! - wakeboards, paddleboards, kneeboards, inland surfboards, boogey boards, jet skis, water skis, canoes, cayaks, and wind surfers.

9. How does ultra violet (UV) light damage my board?
First, the damaging affects caused by ultraviolet light (UV) are the same whether it is your skin, eyes, a painted surface or your board. UV light is a very small wavelength of light that we cannot see. As such, it can affect the chemistry of molecules and basic elements. This UV light cause certain elements and compounds to release an electron - a "Free Radical". That is considered an unstable condition. That free electron "Free Radical" is the cause of the damage as it tries to bond and find a new stable place. When it finds a new bond or 'home', it causes degradation of that substance and that is where we get sunburning, cataracts in our eyes or color fading and rough surfaces on our boards. For any water craft, the first thing attacked by the free radicals is the substrate - the material directly below the surface. For surfboards, the damage also affects the light foam core and stringer further inside the board.
10. How does ultra violet (UV) protection work?
There are two ways UV protection can work. The first is through actually blocking or filtering the rays with a reflective material. Zinc Oxide, the white cream we put on our noses to protect them in the sun is an example. The second way UV protection works is by absorbing the rays with an inhibitor. With an inhibitor, the protective substance applied to the surface acts like a sponge for the free radicals. It provides a stable neutral bond for the loose "Free Radical" electrons thus, eliminating the chance for them to attack and damage other substance. BoardSpank! relies on both methods but primarily through the inhibition of the UV rays.
11. How does BoardSpank! enhance my ride?
Simply, you have a smoother surface on your board that is in contact with the water. BoardSpank! cleans and seals the surface when it is applied. By doing so, the surface repels the water allowing the water to follow the specific design contours of your board or water craft. These contours (concave, v-bottom, edges, rails, etc.) greatly impact the way your ride handles. BoardSpank! allows your board's features to work exactly the way they were professionally designed.
